PoliticsNEW-NAIRA: KOGI STATE GOVERNOR URGES ‘CALM’, AS SUPREME COURT POSTPONES NAIRA CASE

The Supreme Court has adjourned the case brought against the federal government by three state governments, including Kogi, over the continued use of old Naira notes.

The case will now be heard on Wednesday, February 22nd, two days before the presidential election. The Supreme Court ruled that all other parties involved in the case should consolidate their motions for a definite hearing on February 22nd.

As a result, both old and new Naira notes will continue to be legal tender until the case is resolved, prolonging the confusion and anxiety over the Naira redesign policy.

Governor Yahaya Bello appealed to Nigerians to remain calm and peaceful following the adjournment. He expressed his faith in the judiciary and stated his belief that the Supreme Court would do what is right for the general interest of Nigerians.
